IE CHALLENGE

What is it?

The IE Challenge is an opportunity for organizations and enterprises to have bright, young, and diverse teams of IE University students assist them in boosting their positive impact.

The IE Challenge consists of organizations or enterprises that pose a challenge to our IE University students that can be resolved using human-centered methodologies.

IEU students work as Innovation Consultants over the course of a semester (Sept-Dec), during which they are guided in design-thinking workshops by expert facilitators from our IEU faculty.

Who is it for?

The IE Challenge is aimed at supporting organizations and enterprises that have challenges they would like to explore and may not have the time or resources to dedicate to them; these challenges will be tackled by multiple teams of IEU students via the application of human-centered methodologies.

If you own an organization or enterprise, or direct a unit within one, then click below to learn more about how the IE Challenge can help you innovate in ways you may have never considered to increase your positive impact.

What makes IEU Innovation Consultants unique?

The IE Challenge IEU Innovation Consultants work in teams of peers from a mix of IEU’s five different schools and bachelor programs. The diversity of our students’ bachelor studies (law, business administration, communications, behavioral science, computer science and artificial intelligence, data science and business analytics, economics, architecture, international relations, and design) coupled with the diversity of their cultures and cognitive and behavioral profiles, creates a unique opportunity for creative and innovative problem-solving.

The IE Challenge is the culmination of a learning journey, IE Impact, aimed at equipping IEU students to be innovative problem solvers, capable of leading positive change.

The first three courses in the IE Impact include Humanities, Technology, and Entrepreneurship. These three pillar courses were designed for students to develop the skillsets, mindsets, and toolsets they need to excel in human-centered, innovative problem-solving.

Pillar 1: Students develop a humanistic approach both for critical thinking and interpersonal relations, two areas that are essential for decision-making and working in diverse teams, respectively.

Pillar 2: In keeping with the belief that you cannot understand technology unless you try to create something with it, students identify a problem; resolve it by creating a solution with technology; and understand its implications.

Pillar 3: Students develop skills and know-how by executing processes of value creation and in turn designing models that enable the value created to be enduring and scalable, to maximize the positive impact.

  • Startups (with market-traction, growth phase)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONs

Who owns the intellectual property of the final project?

The company owns all the intellectual property after the end of the final project. There’s always an option to offer star students the opportunity to continue their work as interns, but regardless, the work they do is yours to keep and use as you wish.

Does it have any cost for the client?

This process is completely free for the client! All we ask of you is your time, patience, and trust in the process.

Can I skip or change the date of any client check-in?

You cannot change the date of a client check-in as this is already set in the students’ syllabus and it is impossible to coordinate another time. If necessary, you could have another person from the organization cover for you, but we strongly recommend having one person with the students through the whole process to keep the feedback consistent.

Who should attend the client check-ins?

Only core team members should participate (co-founders, top management team). Only those with knowledge about the enterprise’s value proposition, vision, and strategy. If for some reason you want to use different people in the meetings, they should be aligned with the enterprise strategy.

When are the client check-ins?

The client check-ins will be on October 24th, November 14th, and December 5th. The final jury is on December 19th.
